Macro Units and athletes
Build the SPORT structure with team Macro Units and athlete UnitMicro records, then connect records without creating duplicates.

Before you start
- Search the existing team and athlete lists before creating a record.
- Prepare the athlete’s name, current status and any source identifier used by your organization.
- Decide whether you are creating a new athlete or linking an existing athlete to another team.
Key concepts
- Team / Macro Unit
- A group such as U10, U12, Seniors or Veterans.
- Athlete / UnitMicro
- One athlete record that can belong to one or more teams.
- Primary team
- One team relation is primary in the data model. The current Admin interface does not offer a control for changing it directly.

Open or create a team
Create the group that will contain athletes and team-specific work.
Available to: Organization Admin
- 1Select Teams in the organization navigation.
- 2Open an existing team such as U10, or select New team.
- 3In the New macro unit form, enter Name and optionally Country and More details.
- 4Select Create.
- 5Use the team tabs for Overview, Activities, Documents, Athletes, Team and Settings.

Create an athlete
Add a new athlete record to the currently open team.
Available to: Organization Admin and permitted Staff or Management
- 1Open Teams, select the team, then open Athletes.
- 2Use Search athletes to confirm the athlete does not already exist.
- 3Select New athlete.
- 4Enter Name and select Athlete in Type.
- 5Choose the current Status. Add Description, Staff note or Source ID when useful.
- 6Confirm creation, then open the athlete to add details or people.

Link an existing athlete to another team
Use the many-to-many team model without duplicating the athlete.
Available to: Organization Admin and permitted Staff or Management
- 1Open the destination team and select Athletes.
- 2Select Link existing athletes.
- 3Search for and select athletes that already belong to another team.
- 4Confirm the link.

Maintain athlete details, status and linked people
Keep sport-specific information and access relationships accurate.
Available to: Organization Admin and permitted Staff or Management; account linking is Admin-controlled
- 1Open an athlete from the team’s Athletes tab.
- 2Use Overview for the summary, photo and current status.
- 3Open Athlete details to review configured fields such as discipline, birthdate, position, body metrics, performance, medical status and contract status.
- 4Open People to review SELF, PARENT, GUARDIAN or AUTHORIZED VIEWER accounts and select Link account when needed.
- 5Use Activities and Documents for athlete-specific records.
Permissions and important rules
Common problems
| Common problems | What happens next |
|---|---|
| The athlete already exists in another team. | Cancel creation and use Link existing athletes from the destination team. |
| The athlete type is not correct. | Choose Athlete in the Type field; SPORT organizations can expose several UnitMicro types. |
| A status is missing from a filter. | Use one of the current SPORT statuses configured by the application. Status availability can depend on type and organization configuration. |
| You cannot remove the team link. | Confirm that another team relation exists. The final team relation is protected. |
